Lulang, Nyingchi

It turns out that Alibaba’s vision also has a century-old plan. They plan to develop sustainably for 102 years. I am a Taobao seller, I have some knowledge of markets and malls, and I have made money here. Do you ask me what I think of Alibaba’s 102 years? I can only hehe. It’s also unbelievable why it must be 102 years.

Nothing particularly interesting has happened recently. There are some things being planned, so I can’t talk much.

Going down here, it should be the "undeveloped land" where I saw countless alluvial sectors on Google Earth. I'm looking forward to it.

Lulang Sea of Clouds, it was already dark at that time and it was impossible to take pictures.

There was a time when I envied cyclists, then there was a time when I began to despise them, and now I admire them again.

A mural at an inn in Lulang.

I really like this place from the bottom of my heart

The air is fresh and refreshing, and the clouds are shrouded all year round, but there are always a few hours of sunshine every day. It is indeed a paradise.

The endless rivers come from the white-capped snow-capped mountains and rush to the ocean thousands of miles away.

For them, this is the pasture and environment they are born with,

It’s still a ranch, I have many dreams,

Coniferous pines, grass slopes, pastures, forests, rivers, old trees, legends and beauty in the distance

A realm of great beauty

A realm of great beauty

Snow-capped mountains, holy and sacred

Going down here, it should be the "undeveloped land" where I saw countless alluvial sectors on Google Earth.

I had long heard about the beauty of Nyingchi, known as the Switzerland of the East, and I think the description is deserved. A hurried visit cannot do it justice. Given the chance to stay for a month or two, I imagine I would return full of thoughts and discoveries. What troubles me is that Lulang is now being developed as an ‘international ecological tourism town’. Major construction is everywhere, with the air of an ambitious achievement taking shape. I see it, and worry.

Everyone loves beautiful scenery, but whether you are on the road depends on your pursuit of scenery.

For me, the most beautiful place in Nyingchi is Lulang. I have not explored the whole region; the intricate, branching streams I saw on Google Maps may lead to places more beautiful still. An undeveloped landscape carries a raw power that development changes. If constructed beauty can astonish us, nature’s unadorned beauty can open our minds.

The whole Nyingchi region feels clean and clear, with its relatively low elevation and lush vegetation. I love that freshness.

Sometimes it takes a regret to make a surprise possible. We had planned to stay in Bayi Town, but when we arrived it was only a little after seven in the evening. With just over sixty kilometres left to Lulang, we hurried back onto the road, mainly thinking about Lulang stone-pot chicken. You can find it in Bayi too, but it does not feel quite the same. It may have been genuine Lulang-style chicken, and might even have tasted better than the meal we were about to have.

The consequences of not reading the road book are serious. It was getting late, and after discovering the winding mountain road, I looked at the road book and saw a few big words: It is generally not recommended to drive at night on this road section, as it is a cliff section, heavy fog, ice and snow. I felt a little chilly at first, and then it became fatal. Slowly walking up the winding mountain road, after taking n hairpin turns, the sky has completely darkened and it has become impossible to see my fingers. Then the fog comes. Lulang Sea of Clouds is so famous that you can see a vast white patch on Google Earth, that is the sea of clouds. It was rainy that day and naturally the fog was even bigger. Turning on any car lights will result in a vast expanse of impenetrable white, and even the road under your feet will not be clear. You can only turn on the hazard lights and fog lights. When driving in foggy weather, if you want to see the road ahead clearly, not turning on the lights is the best choice. However, this is very likely to make the oncoming car break out in a cold sweat, and then there will be nothing more. So driving is really important, especially on this special road section, you must always consider others. Truck drivers who have been transporting in Tibetan areas for many years do this very well. When they know how to drive, they will actively give way to the car regardless of the road conditions or actual conditions.

The visibility on the foggy section of the cliff is only about five or six meters. When going down the mountain, I am basically walking at a speed of about 10. Yes, it is the same as walking speed. Although it was thrilling, it also left a deep impression on me. In this situation, people feel inexplicably excited despite being frightened, and sometimes the excitement even exceeds caution. On one side is a bottomless cliff, and on the other side is the danger of falling rocks. Naturally, there is no danger at all when walking this stretch of road during the day. What is dangerous is the foggy weather. The fog at that time was much thicker than normal because it had just rained.

When we arrived in Lulang Town, it was almost 10 o'clock in the evening. The famous stone pot chicken was right in front of us. To be honest, there was nothing good to record about this stone pot chicken. The pot was full of chicken claws and chicken necks. I was quite puzzled as to why a whole chicken had so many claws and necks? The taste was okay, my stomach was growling with hunger, and the instant noodles were delicious. I felt okay, because after a few hours on the winding mountain and foggy road, the sight of the lights made me feel warm. Therefore, both emotion and atmosphere have prerequisites. I won’t record this pot of chicken.

After getting up the next day, I really wanted to go back and take a trip to the Lulang Sea of Clouds. Because it was dark last night and I concentrated on walking and didn’t see anything. Besides, it’s impossible to see how spectacular the sea of clouds is in the dark night. However, there were no gas stations in Lulang and there was not much gasoline in stock, so we prepared to cross the famous Tongmai natural barrier. However, we encountered something confusing as soon as we left Lulang. A large group of military vehicles were training and they were not released until 12 noon. To be honest, Tongmai is not a natural hazard, at least it doesn’t feel like walking. Although it was raining that day and the road to Tongmai was muddy than usual, I don’t think it’s a big deal and there’s nothing to say.
