The build is more useful than the phrase “high quality”. Ask for named materials, measurable specifications and evidence of what will actually be supplied.

Gross margin = (price − cost) ÷ price. Price = cost ÷ (1 − margin). A 20% markup on cost is different from a 20% gross margin. Agree a margin that matches the actual service and risk.

Example A totals US$650; B becomes US$680 after packing; C totals US$705. Check the agreed specification, delivery point and exclusions before comparing price. Deposit amounts here use the purchase subtotal; record any different payment base on the invoice.
Plan the complete journey to your door.
Ask for a line-by-line shipping quote. A low ocean-freight number can omit collection, destination handling, clearance and the final delivery.
Before ordering
Measure doorways, stairs, lift and the room. Agree who is importer and who handles customs. Ask your broker what the sofa’s materials and destination require.
Before dispatch
Approve the invoice, packing list, shipment booking, insurance, final packed measurements and labelled package photos. Confirm wood-packaging requirements if used.
In transit
Keep the transport document, tracking, destination agent and arrival notice. Check clearance deadlines and free storage.
At delivery
Arrange access and unloading. Photograph sealed packaging, then inspect the sofa. Record visible damage and retain packing and documents for a claim.
Choose the handover point in writing.
EXW
Buyer arranges most transport and export formalities. Check loading and export-clearance responsibility before accepting.
FCA
Seller hands the goods to the nominated carrier at the named place and handles export clearance. Record the precise collection point.
DAP
Seller arranges delivery to the named destination; buyer handles import clearance/taxes and unloading.
DDP
Seller takes import-clearance/tax responsibility. Confirm the lawful importer arrangement and whether unloading/inside delivery is included.
Editable LCL exercise. Dimensions, weight and all rates are planning assumptions. Enter the forwarder’s actual scope and figures before using it as a purchase budget.
Add duty and import tax amounts. Enter 0 only when confirmed.
CBM = length × width × height × packages ÷ 1,000,000. W/M uses the greater of CBM, metric tonnes and the quoted minimum. Confirm surcharges, rounding, route and service scope with your forwarder.
Duty and VAT are separate inputs, not a universal percentage. Ask the destination broker to confirm classification, customs value, tax base and payable amounts. Final-delivery charges must specify unloading and access.
